Families,

I love looking out my office window this time of year as the days are getting longer, the sun is starting to come out more, and I am loving the warmer temps! But, most of all, I love seeing all of our students doing a variety of things either during the school day or afterschool here at Ridgetop!

Highlight of the week was definitely our night football game. Although we didn't come home with the win, it was a "win" overall! It was definitely fun to see our football team start their season off, our cheerleaders and band getting to perform, and seeing so many of you there! Love that we have such a supportive community.

I hope you have a great weekend and are able to get out and enjoy some of the nice weather!

Assistant Principal Update

We want to share that our Assistant Principal, Miranda Smallwood, has accepted a position as Principal of Woodward Middle School in the Bainbridge Island School District, and will be transitioning at the end of this school year.

She has shared what a true honor it has been to serve the Ridgetop community, being incredibly proud of our students and deeply grateful for the partnership of our staff and families in supporting a strong, inclusive, and engaging learning environment.

Miranda would also like to share the following with our students and families:

“This decision was not an easy one, but it reflects a unique opportunity that aligns closely with my family’s roots and my continued commitment to public education and community-centered leadership.
Please know that my focus remains fully on Ridgetop for the remainder of the school year. I am committed to finishing the year strong and supporting a smooth and thoughtful transition for our school. Thank you for your continued partnership and support, and I look forward to staying connected across the County at Arts and Athletics events, and beyond!"

Local Author Visit 👩‍🏫

In partnership with Liberty Bay Books , we are excited to welcome author, Mary Boone to our school on April 27th. We are excited to hear her talk about the art of writing as well as about her books!

Purple Up Tuesdays!

April is Month of the Military Child! We want to celebrate our military connected students throughout the month. To show support and solidarity, we will wear purple each week on Purple Up Tuesdays! Purple is the color of the military child because it blends together the colors representing all branches of the US Armed Forces.

We will also be doing some fun lunch activities and invite military children to appear on the morning announcements throughout the month!

April Focus ☺️

This year, every month we are going to have a specific character focus that we are working on as a school. Each week, we will be focusing on different aspects of being a professional student.

For the month of April, we are focusing on Inclusion. We are working on helping students understand what it means to embrace differences and celebrate diversity.

Would you like to be an Adult Mentor for our students? 🙋🏼‍♂️

Ridgetop is in need of adult mentors. All it takes is 1 hour per week to make a difference in a student's life. The goal of the mentoring program is to develop positive relationships between schools and students, parents, and community.  All mentors receive training on how to support students with goal setting, and peer relationships.

Mentoring takes place on school property. Mentors may play board games, draw, practice flashcards, read, discuss grades and study habits, or just spend time talking. If this sounds like something you can do, please get in contact with our building coordinator Jeff Kahler@ jeffreyk@ckschools.org. Adult mentors make a huge difference in a youth's life.
