I can't believe the first month of school is already over! It seems to be flying by already. It has been a great first month of school. Kids are starting to fall into a routine and we are starting to get into a groove. I am looking forward to the month ahead as we have got a busy one coming up.

Have a great weekend!

Fall Conferences

We are excited to welcome families into Ridgetop for Fall Conferences in a few weeks. Below are the details of the conference times.

Dates and Times:
  • 10/22: 4 - 7:30pm
  • 10/23: 11:00am - 2:30pm AND 3:30pm - 7:00pm

We will be doing what is called an "arena style" conference. You will have the opportunity to go around to your student's teachers for a brief conversation on how things are going in the class and to ask any questions. Below you will see where each grade level will be stationed around the building.

  • 8th Grade: Cafeteria
  • 7th Grade: Upper Gym
  • 6th Grade: Lower Gym
  • Electives: Hallway by Library

Before you go and talk with teachers, your student will present to you their part of what they have created for conferences. This student led piece will give you an opportunity to hear from your child about how they are doing in school and how they are feeling about school in general. For this part, we want our students to bring their Chromebook with them to conferences as they will have to access this document on their Chromebook.

Lastly, we are asking that families that are planning to attend to please reserve their date and time slot. A separate message to sign up for a date and time slot will be coming out shortly.

September/October Focus 👨‍🎓

This year, every month we are going to have a specific character focus that we are working on as a school. For the month of September, we are focusing on Professional Student. Each week, we will be focusing on different aspects of being a professional student.

This week we are wrapping up our theme of Professional student with focusing on quality work.

As we finish with Professional Student, we are going to be taking the rest of October to focus on Responsibility.

8th Grade Field Trip

We have an amazing opportunity to take our 8th graders to watch the Frankenstein performance put on by our CK Performing Arts Center on Oct. 20th. Permission slips will be passed out to students on Monday. Please make sure to sign it and have your student turn it in to the office or ELA teacher.

Raider Ready Tickets 🎟️

Starting next week, students will have the opportunity to earn Raider Ready tickets throughout the day from staff members based on their behavior and following the month's theme. As students collect these tickets, they will have an opportunity to spend them at our ticket store.

Parent/Guardian Volunteers Needed for the PBIS Student Store!

We’re excited to launch our PBIS Student Store, where students can spend the tickets they earn from staff for demonstrating positive behavior around the Ridgetop community. The store will open on Wednesday, October 15 and will run every Wednesday during all three lunches (10:15–11:45).
👉 We need parent/guardian volunteers to help run the store!
This is a great opportunity to be around students and see our Raiders in action.
  • Please sign up below for the date(s) that work for you.
  • Please plan to arrive at 10:00 a.m. and stay until 12:00 p.m.
  • Be sure to sign in at the front office when you arrive.

If this is something you are interested in, sign ups will be coming in a separate message.

What is PBIS? PBIS (Positive Behavioral Interventions and Supports) is a schoolwide framework that helps us create a positive, predictable, and safe school environment. Students are taught and recognized for demonstrating positive behavior and skills that support their success in and out of the classroom (such as responsibility, resilience, respect, integrity, etc.)

PBIS Focus: In September, we worked on becoming Professional Students by practicing self-management, time management, and organization. In October, our focus is Responsibility. We’ll kick things off with grade-level assemblies next week (6th grade Monday, 7th grade Tuesday, 8th grade Wednesday). Staff will begin distributing tickets starting Monday, October 6!
Thank you for helping us recognize and celebrate positive behavior at Ridgetop!

Chromebook and Charger Renewal for 7th and 8th Graders 💻

Chromebooks and chargers must be renewed every year. Please remind your student to bring both to the library to complete this process.

Lost and Found 👔

We've got a lot of "stuff" in our Lost and Found area. Take a look at this video to see if you see anything that may belong to your student.

FYI, we will be donating what is leftover after conferences.

Japan EFT Summer Trip ✈️

Mr. Booth will be taking a group of students to Japan in the summer of 2026 for an awesome educational trip. Please see this link for more info. There is a parent interest meeting coming up for this too. This is such a great opportunity for our students!

**This is NOT a CKSD sponsored trip

Would you like to be an Adult Mentor for our students? 🙋🏼‍♂️

Ridgetop is in need of adult mentors. All it takes is 1 hour per week to make a difference in a student's life. The goal of the mentoring program is to develop positive relationships between schools and students, parents, and community.  All mentors receive training on how to support students with goal setting, and peer relationships.

Mentoring takes place on school property. Mentors may play board games, draw, practice flashcards, read, discuss grades and study habits, or just spend time talking. If this sounds like something you can do, please get in contact with our building coordinator Jeff Kahler@ jeffreyk@ckschools.org. Adult mentors make a huge difference in a youth's life.
