The SST uses a data-based, systemic approach to reviewing staff expertise and concerns regarding a student who is not demonstrating progress with classroom-based Tier-2 interventions.
Our goal is to help develop interventions based on our Ci3T Plan/Menu of Tiered Interventions, remaining evidence-based while monitoring progress and making adjustments along the way.
We are here to partner with and support classroom teachers in developing interventions for difficult learning challenges!
If we as a staff and family partnership find that a student needs persistent and formalized accommodations or modifications, the SST may refer a student for a 504 plan or Special Education evaluation, but the goal or purpose of the SST is not to be a 504/IEP referral team.
Below is a visual flowchart of our process.
If a parent is the originator of a concern, an Administrator or Counselor will reach out to the teacher team for input; if the family concerns are validated in class, a staff member will originate a referral. If they are not evident, an individual conference will be scheduled with the family to continue the discussion and partnership.
