Raider Family: Where We Learn, Lead, and Grow!

Ridgetop Family Weekly: 9/25/26

The Raider Family Newsletter for Ridgetop Middle School, featuring the school mascot and the motto 'Where We Learn, Lead & Grow!'.
Raider Families,

What a great way to wrap up another week at The Ridge!

First, a huge thank you to all of our families who joined us for Family Lunch Day today! It was awesome to see so many families in the building spending time with their students. We really appreciate you taking the time to join us.

We also had a great time at our Fall Back to School Social this afternoon! It was fun seeing our students hanging out with friends, having fun, and enjoying being together outside of the classroom. Thank you to everyone who helped make both of today's events possible!

As we look toward next week and start getting into the meat of the school year, there are two simple habits we are going to focus on with our students: getting to class on time and coming to class prepared.

These may seem like small things, but they can make a big difference in a student's success. When students arrive on time and have what they need, they are able to start class on the right foot, participate from the beginning, and be ready to learn. We want these habits to become part of our students' daily routine because they help students take ownership of their learning and set themselves up for success.

We had a great week, and we are looking forward to another one ahead. Have an awesome weekend!

Attending Sporting Events

We absolutely love when our students come out to support their fellow Raiders at a sporting event. Here are a few reminders for students to ensure that we all can enjoy cheering on our sports teams.

  • ALL school rules apply when you are attending a sports event.
  • If you are attending a sports event, you CANNOT stay on campus to wait for the start of that event. Most of our events start at 3:30pm. You need to leave campus and then come back at 3:30 to watch an event.
  • Let's be Respectful Raiders! That means we aren't booing other teams or players. We are using respectful language and we are treating others around us with respect also.

Getting to Class On Time and Being Prepared

As we continue settling into our school routines, we appreciate your help in making sure students come to school each day prepared with everything they may need: lunches, athletic gear, instruments, Chromebooks, and other school items.

We know that occasionally something gets forgotten (it happens to all of us!), but when possible, having everything ready before students arrive helps minimize interruptions to classrooms and keeps students focused on learning throughout the day.

Secondly, now that students have started to get into the routine of school, we are going to be tracking tardies to class. Please keep in mind that as tardies build, we have integrated consequences for every 3rd tardy. Please refer to the Student Handbook below.

Thank you for partnering with us to help our Raiders be prepared and ready for a great day!

Free and Reduced Lunch Applications 🥗

All families are encouraged to complete a Child Nutrition Eligibility & Education Benefits (CNEEB) Form at the beginning of each school year.  This form will help qualify your student(s) for Free or Reduced Price Meals, reduction of school fees and SUNbucks Summer EBT benefits.  Completion of a CNEEB form also helps your child's school qualify for other benefits.

The federal government sets eligibility guidelines based on household income and size.

Reduced price breakfast and lunches for grade K–12  are free at all schools. You can complete a CNEEB application online through Linq Connect, pick up an application at your child's school, or print and complete a paper application (PDF), Spanish form (PDF), or request a paper application in another language by contacting Child Nutrition. Please return completed applications to your child's school.

We are currently hiring for:
  • Head Volleyball Coach (Spring)
  • Assistant Volleyball Coach (Spring)

Character Strong 💪🏼

This coming week will be our kickoff week of Character Strong. The focus of this week will be to introduce our first Character Dare. Students will identify the difference between personality and character and consider how engaging in consistent CharacterDare challenges can help build their character.

We are excited to be using this curriculum in our Advocacy classes each week. For more information on Character Strong, please feel free to watch this video and/or check out their site for families.

Join our PTSA

We have an AMAZING PTSA here at Ridgetop!  We would love your support by joining our PTSA, so in turn they can support our school community. Thank you in advance!

7th Grade Tdap Immunization Requirement 💉

Washington state law requires all students entering 7th grade to have a Tdap booster or an exemption form on file before the first day of school. Tdaps given on or after 10 years of age meet this requirement. If you need an appointment with a provider, schedule it now; wait times can be lengthy. If your student needs a sports physical, your provider may be able to give the Tdap booster at the same time. If you need help finding a provider, contact your school nurse or call the Kitsap Public Health District at 360-728-2235.
